anchor cable location on drum Empty anchor cable location on drum

Does it make a difference if you anchor the cable on the front of the drum or the rear?My speedrooter 90 drum has an anchor bolt on the front, but I know that the Spartan 1065 and Ridgid K7500 anchor on the back of the drum. Planning to load the machine up with either .66 magnum cable or 11/16 IC cable and wondering if the anchor location makes a difference. If I go with the .66 mag cable, I will probably use a Spartan anchor block on the rear of the drum but I might use the front anchor if I use the 11/16.Also, I will only use this machine a few times each month and I'm wondering if rust might be a problem with the .66 magnum cable?
Any input from the drummers would be appreciated

Thanks,

barismanco
